Terms of use

These terms cover the website at theproofbook.com and the digital templates sold or given away here. They are the house rules for using the site, but they are not legal advice about your duties as an agent.

Who we are

The Proof Book is a trade name of The Chalk and Ledger Group LLC, an Ohio limited liability company. You can reach us at [email protected].

The templates

The Family Update, the POA Ledger, and any later files are organizational tools for record-keeping. They are not legal, tax, or financial advice, and they do not create an attorney-client relationship, an accountant-client relationship, or any other professional relationship. Buying a file does not make us your lawyer.

Your license

When you receive a file, you get a personal, non-exclusive license to use it for your own family's records. You may not resell the templates, give away the source files as your own product, or upload them to a marketplace. You may share a finished report about your own parent's money with the people who need to see it.

Payments

Paid products are checked out through Payhip, our checkout partner, which handles the card and the sales tax. Their terms apply to the payment, and we do not see or store your card number. The POA Ledger is a one-time purchase at $29 for the first 100 families, and after that it is $47. Estate Handoff Pages are $19. The Complete Proof Book is $59 for the first 100 families ($117 item by item). The Family Update Kit is free.

Refunds

Digital goods are covered by our refund policy. If a file does not work or is not what was described, email [email protected] within 30 days and we will fix it or refund it.

Acceptable use

Do not use the site or the files to break the law, to mislead a bank or a court, or to dress up a false record. A ledger only helps if the lines are true. Do not send us bank files, Social Security numbers, or full account numbers, because we do not want them.

The site

We may change the pages, the prices, and these terms. The date at the bottom is the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply to the site. A purchase you already made stays under the terms and refund policy in place on the day you paid.

Disclaimers

The files are provided as organized templates. We work to make them open in Google Sheets and to print cleanly. We do not warrant that a sibling, a bank, an attorney, a court, or Medicaid will accept your records. We do not warrant an outcome in a family dispute. Read the disclaimer.

Limits

To the extent the law allows, The Chalk and Ledger Group LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including a family dispute, a denied benefit, or a tax bill, arising from how you use the templates. If we are liable, the limit is the amount you paid us for the file at issue. Some states do not allow certain limits. In those states, the limit applies only as far as the law allows.

Ohio law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Ohio are the venue, except where the law gives you a right to a local forum that cannot be waived.
